An exploration in bikes through living for the moment

  • Journal

Anthill have made some exceptional mountain biking films over the years. I’m a sucker for a well-played out story and some excellent cinematics to help it come to life. Of Anthill films, I think the fun and enjoyment of Not Bad perhaps makes it my favourite. Maybe. Interestingly, Anthill are sharing their latest film, Return to Earth, on Echoboom Sports at the minute. It’s an… Read More »An exploration in bikes through living for the moment

Once this is all over, we’ll get out on a mega ride

“Once this is all over, we’ll get out on a mega ride.” A few people have said that to me now. It seems a common thread in conversations in Instagram DMs, across WhatsApp groups, and on Twitter. The weather has finally turned and it’d normally be prime time for a goos set of trails and a ride with a few mates. It’s about this time… Read More »Once this is all over, we’ll get out on a mega ride

I thought about inviting a mate round before realising that we’re not supposed to

  • Journal

Unusual times means that there’s all sorts of things going on in the world which aren’t normal. Not being able to have mates round is strange. Minimal contact altogether is weird. So, sat here in my office, alone, I figured I’d try to make the best of a bad situation. Don’t worry though: this isn’t another COVID19 discussion post. In fact, I barely mention it… Read More »I thought about inviting a mate round before realising that we’re not supposed to

It won’t surprise you to hear that she thought it was incredible

Red Bull Hardline is one of the most insane courses out there. If you read the piece I wrote about walking it, hopefully it gave you an impression of just how steep and technical the track is. Actually being able to walk down it with Gee Atherton was an incredible opportunity but a few weeks ago I was also lucky enough to be invited back.… Read More »It won’t surprise you to hear that she thought it was incredible

When things get a bit loose, at least I’ll be able to stop now

When my brakes gave up at Llandegla it was time to consider getting a new set. I’d bled them before, had them bled at a bike shop nearby and then had them bled again at One Planet. The resulting change in braking wasn’t anywhere near perfect; they just about got by stopping me. Apparently, Guide Rs are renowned for being a sub-par set of brakes… Read More »When things get a bit loose, at least I’ll be able to stop now

I guess that’s why they call it Hardline

The second day with Red Bull and the Athertons didn’t disappoint. The first was great so I had big expectations for the second. We got up ready for breakfast and then headed out to meet Gee and walk the Hardline course. It was baking hot – back home the temperatures hit the low forties but in South Wales they were high thirties. I’ve seen Hardline… Read More »I guess that’s why they call it Hardline

We want to invite you to ride with Gee and Dan Atherton

Do you ever get those moments where you think things can’t be right? You know, when something seems like it’s too good to be true. It normally is, right? That’s exactly how I felt when I got an Instagram message on a random Wednesday at just after half two in the afternoon. It went something along the lines of “Hey, we work for Red Bull… Read More »We want to invite you to ride with Gee and Dan Atherton

In the end, this separation in style is what put an end to To The Trail

I imagine most of the people that read this blog will be people who know me one way or another. You’ll likely be one of the people who have been involved with #MTBTalk over the last four years, or someone who I ride with, or someone who has watched me on YouTube. That’s who I imagine reads this drivel. If you’re new here, hello and… Read More »In the end, this separation in style is what put an end to To The Trail
